Arrival in the Netherlands
Information

Travelling from Ukraine to the Netherlands
On this page you can read how to travel cheaply and safely from Ukraine to the Netherlands.

This is what you need to do when arriving in the Netherlands
Have you fled from Ukraine and are new to the Netherlands? Then the Dutch government will make sure you are taken care of. Read more about it here.

This is what happens when you arrive in the Netherlands via a port or airport
If you leave Ukraine, you can travel to the Netherlands without a visa for the first 90 days. Do you arrive in the Netherlands via an airport or port and have a Ukrainian passport or a permanent Ukrainian residence permit? Then the Royal Netherlands Marechaussee will check whether you may travel into the Netherlands.

You need a Dutch citizen service number (BSN) for this in the Netherlands
If you fall under the Temporary Protection Directive (TPD), you have a personal number. You need this number in the Netherlands to arrange personal matters. This is called a Dutch citizen service number (BSN).

Leaving the Netherlands temporarily
If you have temporary protection, you may leave the Netherlands temporarily. For example, to go on holiday. For people with Ukrainian citizenship and a Ukrainian passport, different rules apply than for people with another citizenship who also have temporary protection.

These are your options if you are not entitled to the temporary protection
Did you flee from Ukraine and not fall under temporary protection? Or were you under temporary protection but it has stopped since 4 March 2025? Read here what you can do.
