Celebrating Ascension Day and Pentecost in the Netherlands

Ascension Day and Pentecost are official public holidays in the Netherlands. This year Ascension Day falls on Thursday, 29 May and Pentecost on 8 and 9 June 2025. On these days, most people in the Netherlands do not have to work and celebrate these public holidays.

On her own, Julia (38) left her hometown of Lviv in March 2022. Just across the border with Poland, she found shelter in a reception location. But she was sure she did not want to stay there for long: "I did not want to be a refugee, so I immediately started looking for work."

Information on renewing your sticker or card

Temporary protection for Ukrainian refugees has been extended until 4 March 2024. The IND will send you a letter with information about the extension of your sticker. This letter, together with the sticker, serves as proof that your stay has been extended.
