Starting your own business in the Netherlands is almost impossible

Do you fall under the Temporary Protection Directive? Then it is very difficult to start your own business and work as an independent entrepreneur without personnel (self-employed person) in the Netherlands. You will then need a

work permit
which the
UWV
almost never gives. If you work as a self-employed person without a work permit, you run the risk of high fines.

The UWV rejects 99 percent of applications for work permits for entrepreneurs from Ukraine. This is due to strict European rules. If you, as a self-employed person, want to do work that does not require training, the UWV will not give you a work permit. This is work that basically anyone can do.

If you are an expert and do work that requires special training, you may be able to get a work permit as a self-employed person. However, your client or customer must then reapply to the UWV for a work permit for each job. It may take five weeks before a decision is made.

The Dutch Labour Inspectorate monitors and can impose fines if you do not follow the rules.

Please note that registering your own company with the

Dutch Chamber of Commerce
is not a problem. For this you only need to be registered in the
BRP
. You do not yet need to show a work permit. A work permit is required to actually work for clients.
